Smoothing method of X-ray projection image using locally adaptive nonlinear filter

Abstract(in English) An X-ray projection image is created by emitting X-rays from an X-ray tube toward a subject, measuring the intensity of the transmitted X-rays with a detector. By increasing the amount of X-ray irradiation, it is possible to read the fine details of the object, radiation exposure of the patiemt imcreases. Sugiura proposed a smoothing method that uses the Poisson property of sinograms, which are projection data of X-ray CT, to automatically adjust the smoothing span according to quantum noise. However, this method has not been varidated with ordinary X-ray photographic data. Therefore, in this study, we apply this method to ordinary X-ray projection images and verify its effectiveness by comparing it with other smoothing filters.
