Visualization method of three-dimensional radio wave conditions for drone teleoperation support

Abstract(in English) Drones are used in a wide range of fields including inspection and logistics, but drone accidents are sometimes caused by radio waves that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Therefore, we thought that visualization of radio wave conditions in drone camera images may help to avoid locations with poor radio wave conditions. Although previous research has focused on visualizing radio wave conditions in two or three dimensions, two-dimensional visualization lacks information on the radio wave conditions and three-dimensional visualization can interfere with operations. In order to balance the amount of information and visibility, this study implemented user interfaces with different amounts of information on the radio wave conditions, conducted comparative experiments, and evaluated how much information is appropriate to be visualized. The results of the experiment showed that it is possible to avoid points with poor radio wave conditions by visualizing the radio wave conditions, and objective indicators showed how much information on the radio wave conditions is optimum to be visualized.
