Throughput Measurement by Real Machines in IEEE 802.11ah with Wi-Fi Ad-Hoc Network for High Speed Forest Networks

Abstract(in English) We evaluate the effectiveness of combined network with a long-distance wireless communication technology and Wi-Fi ad-hoc network to provide a high speed forest network that enables voice or video communication in forestry sites where LTE/5G do not be used. This paper focuses on IEEE 802.11ah that can be deployed unlicensed and inexpensively as the long-distance wireless communication technology. Therefore, we evaluate the effective communication range of a combined network with 802.11ah and Wi-Fi ad-hoc network. 802.11ah is structed from a place with Internet connection to forestry road which is the nearest to the forestry site. Wi-Fi ad-hoc network is structed in the forest from the road to the forestry site. The results of throughput measurement by actual equipment in a forest revealed that throughput of 2.66Mbps, which enables video communication, can be obtained even at a forestry site 379m away by the combined network.
