Abstract(in English) | Due to the rapid increase of amount of data, multimode optical fiber (MMF) and multimode optical waveguide are attracting attention as tools that enable high-speeddata transmission and processing. Particularly, the optical waveguide is superior to optical fiber in split, junction, switch by short reach transmission. However, in MMF, encircled flux (EF) is specified in IEC as a method for quantitatively evaluating optical transmission characteristics (IEC 61280-4-1). However, there is still no specified method for evaluation of multimode optical waveguides. Therefore, in this study, an evaluation experiment was conducted to apply EF, which is a method for measuring and evaluating the propagation mode distribution of MMF, to multi-mode optical waveguides which have various core shapes and patterns. |
