Design of Novel Box-type Coupling Microstrip Diplexer with Transmission Zeros

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a new box-type coupling microstrip diplexer that can place transmission zeros at arbitrary frequencies. In conventional microstrip diplexers, transmission zeros (TZs) are generated by direct source/load coupling and/or a negative coupling, but it is difficult to place transmission zeros at arbitrary frequencies owing to a complicated circuit configuration. To solve this problem, we propose a new structure of microstrip diplexer using box-type coupling with even- and odd-mode stepped impedance resonators, which has been proposed by the authors for filter design. As an example, a microstrip diplexer is designed under the design specifications with center frequency of 2.0 GHz, bandwidth of 100 MHz, and 1.85-GHz and 2.15-GHz TZ frequencies for lower passband, and center frequency of 2.2 GHz, bandwidth of 100 MHz, 2.05-GHz and 2.35-GHz TZ frequencies for upper passband. A coupling-matrix based circuit synthesis method and a coupling matrix extraction method for diplexers enable us to design the structural parameters efficiently. The effectiveness of the proposed diplexer is verified by good agreement between EM-simulated frequency responses, theoretical characteristics, and experimental results.
