Experimental Demonstration of 1200-km Transmission of a 4096-ary Eigenvalue-modulated Signal

Abstract(in English) In recent years, optical eigenvalue communication based on inverse scattering transform has attracted much attention because the optical eigenvalues are not affected by nonlinear distortion. We have proposed a mul- tilevel modulation scheme using on-off states of eigenvalues and reported the feasibility of the 50-km transmission of the 4096-ary eigenvalue-modulated signal. In this paper, we propose to apply a neural network demodulator and soft-decision forward error correction to the 4096-ary eigenvalue-modulated signal to extend the transmission distance. Finally, we experimentally demonstrate an error-free transmission over 1200 km of the 4096-ary eigenval- ue-modulated signal using the proposed method.
