Numerical analysis of scattering characteristic from chiral material in UV vortex fields

Abstract(in English) In biochemistry, a method of so-called circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy is effectively employed to identify a chirality of any spiral structure biomolecules (chiral molecules) such as DNA, protein and polysaccharide. That is, scattering phenomena of the right circularly polarized UV light from the chiral molecules has different characteristics from those of the left circularly polarized UV light. Then it is known that fundamental process of CD is related with interaction between angular momentum of circularly polarized light and the spiral structure of the chiral molecules. Accordingly it is expected that identification of the chirality may be much more effective if we use the optical vortex instead of the circularly polarized light since the optical vortex carry much more large angular momentum than that of the circularly polarized light. In this work, such the angular momentum interaction between the UV light and spiral structure materials is evaluated quantitatively by using a method of moment (MoM) analysis.
