[Invited Lecture] Outdoor THz Channel Measurement at 300GHz for Ultra-High Data-Rate Wireless Access in An Open Square

抄録(和) This report details a double-directional angle-resolved wide-band channel measurement campaign conducted in an outdoor environment at 300 GHz (ranging from 296 GHz to 304 GHz). It covered diverse scenarios, including line-of-sight, obstructed line-of-sight, and non-line-of-sight situations within an open campus square. Directional narrow-beam horn antennae were employed on both the transmitter and receiver sides to create double-directional angle-resolved channel sounder terminals. Comparison with ray tracing simulations facilitated the derivation of multipath characteristics extracted from the delay-angular power spectrum. Further analysis involved evaluating parameters for two path loss models to comprehend propagation characteristics. The investigation revealed that the outdoor terahertz channel exhibits significant sparsity which, however, provides inspiration for leveraging the channel’s high directivity in the design of massive MIMO systems. Finally, the report explores the channel capacity in a single-user MIMO system with varying numbers of streams.
