Experimental Verification of Impedance Balance Method for Reducing Radiated Emission of Three-Phase Inverters

Abstract(in English) This report verifies the effectiveness in reducing radiated emission of three-phase inverters by impedance balance method. In the proposed method, impedance elements are added between the output trace of each phase and the bus trace. Furthermore, connecting output traces mutually with additional impedance elements. Then, CM voltage propagation from transistors to each-phase output terminal can be described with bridge-shaped equivalent circuits. Therefore, applying impedance balance method, we can suppress noise propagation from each transistor to all output terminals simultaneously when the bridge circuits are balanced. Implementing the impedance elements on an evaluation board of the three-phase inverter, we confirmed the CM current reduction by up to 31.5 dB. Furthermore, the radiated emission was verified to be suppressed by up to 22 dB through the measurement in an anechoic chamber.
