Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Doubly-selectivity of underwater acoustic communications (UWACs) can be measured by channel sounders, which estimate time-varying channel impulse response (CIR). The authors have been making researches on channel sounders, which transmit the modified maximum length (M) sequence cyclically and estimate CIR by cyclic correlation. However, these channel sounders suffer from a decrease of detected correlation values due to fast time-varying CIR. This paper proposes a channel sounder employing re-samplers which compress and expand sampling periods, in order to solve this issue. This channel sounder operates as follows: 1) prepare multiple re-samplers with different re-sampling rate; 2) calculate cyclic correlations respective for multiple re-samplers; 3) select cyclic correlation with the largest peak for the estimated CIR. Next, computer simulation results confirm that this channel sounder has excellent CIR estimation performance in severe doubly-selective channel environments of UWACs. Finally, experimental results in sharrow sea environment confirm that this channel sounder has excellent CIR estimation performance in fast moving speed environments of UWACs.
