Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Iterative detection and decoding (IDD), which gradually improves detection accuracy by iteratively exchanging extrinsic information between the symbol detector and the channel decoder, is known as a powerful uplink signal detection scheme for large multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems. In this paper, we compare two methods for generating extrinsic values using extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) analysis: one is based on the conventional scheme via the extrinsic log-likelihood ratio (LLR), and the other is based on the expectation propagation (EP) via moment matching (MM). The results of the EXIT analysis and bit error rate performance show that the EP-based IDD scheme can achieve better detection performance than the conventional counterpart based on the turbo principle, especially in high-load MIMO configurations where the number of transmit antennas is lager than the number of receive antennas.
