On the Capacity of Periodic-Finite-Type Shift using Adjacency Matrix

Abstract(in English) When saving data to data storage media, we generally impose constraints on data sequences, such as run-length constraints, for increasing the reliability of data. Constraints on sequences are in general assigned equally for each position. However, in Periodic-Finite-Type Shifts (PFTs), constraints on sequences are assigned in a periodic manner. PFTs not only includes the cases of typical constraints, but also can have properties of an error correcting codes. Calculating the capacity of a PFT is important for evaluating its performance. Therefore, in this study, we derive the capacity of a certain PFT using the notion of the adjacency matrix.
