Badminton Rally Analysis Using LSTM

Abstract(in English) In this study, we analyze badminton rallies as a tactical support technology for sports using AI. In badminton, it is required to capture trends in tactics frequently used by specific players and trends in tactics that change depending on matches and opponents. In order to capture such trends, it is necessary to extract tactical characteristics of each rally and compare rallies appropriately. Therefore, this research was conducted to extract the features of badminton rallies, taking into account the positional coordinates of players, shot types and interactions. In this study, we took the approach of training an LSTM-based AutoEncoder and using it as a feature extractor for rallies. The feature vectors extracted by this approach were used to perform cluster analysis of top players’ game data.
