Performance Evaluation of Advanced BLE Hybrid Algorithm for Multi Floor Positioning

Abstract(in English) This paper evaluates advanced Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) hybrid algorithm performance for multi floor positioning using smartphone. First, we change information in BLE hybrid algorithm database from 2D position to 3D position. It is possible to limit the search area of fingerprinting database in multi floor. Next, we evaluate floor positioning performance in stairs. Evaluation results show that the advanced BLE hybrid algorithm can floor positioning. We compare multi floor positioning performance of the advanced BLE hybrid algorithm, the barometric pressure-based method, and the Fingerprinting. Comparison results show that the advanced BLE Hybrid Algorithm has a small 3D distance error. Furthermore, it is less affected by differences in smartphones, positioning environments, and number of BLE beacons. The BLE hybrid algorithm is the most stable and highest performance method. Consequently, we obtain the knowledge about the advanced BLE hybrid algorithm for multi floor positioning.
