Development of detection scheme for speckle pattern changes in an output light spot from an optical fiber with a PIV method

Abstract(in English) When visible laser beams are input into a multi-mode optical fiber (MMF) from its one end and are allowed to travel therein to output from another end onto a screen, non-uniform granular patterns can be observed in the output light spot. Such patterns are often called as speckle pattern. The authors’ research group is trying to investigate the speckle pattern movements to be obtained upon application of external disturbances onto the optical fiber with FFT correlation in the PIV method to continuously reproduce the movements. In this paper, appropriate parameter determinations and statistic process procedures are mainly discussed. The obtained data distribution was found to be derived from normal distribution, and appropriate parameter determinations were confirmed to be effective for improving temporal preciseness.
