Abstract(in English) | A new congestion-based congestion control, BBR(Bottleneck Bandwidth and Round-trip propagation time)proposed by Google is expected to resolve bufferbloat problem. BBR is designed to operate at the optimal operating point proposed by Kleinrock where the maximum throughput can be obtained without any stored packet at a router buffer. In this paper, with simple analysis, we reveal that BBR increases its sending rate even when BBR flows utilize full available bandwidth. This means that BBR cannot operate at the optimal operating point and usually operates with queue at the bottleneck link. We propose a new BBR, BMR(BBR with Moderate Rate) which reduces transmission rate moderately in order to resolve overestimation of available bandwidth. Our simulation results show that BMR operates around the optimal operating point without any queue at the bottleneck link. |
