Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Thermoplastics are commonly used in the production of handmade foot orthoses. In particular, polyethylene and polypropylene are often used as materials for orthotics. However, with the recent development of 3D printers for foot orthotics, new filament materials are being developed one after another. In particular, the development of PLA (polylactic acid) resin has been remarkable, and its weaknesses, which were previously considered to be brittle, are now being overcome. In this paper, we report on the results of the production and actual use of plantar foot orthoses made of two types of filaments: PLA (polylactic acid) resin filaments and glass fiber reinforced filaments made of PP (polypropylene) resin and GW (glass wool) kneaded into the filaments by a 3D printer using a filament melting method.
