Abstract(in English) | We study an LDPC (low-density parity-check) encoding and iterative decoding method which combines LDPC codes and SP (sum-product) decoding for a shingled magnetic recording (SMR) system. In particular, we show the usefulness of applying a neural network in iterative decoding. We previously evaluated the log-likelihood ratio (LLR) by giving the neural network in SP decoding the LLR that is related to row operations on the parity check matrix for the decoding target bit and updated the LLR based on the evaluation to further improve SP decoding. In this study, we propose to evaluate and update the LLR considering the influence of noise depending on the recording pattern by providing the neural network in SP decoding with the LLR for the decoding target and its adjacent bits to achieve more effective iterative decoding. Also, we compare the case of SP decoding with a neural network that is given only the LLR for the decoding target bit and the case of SP decoding without a neural network. |
