Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) QR codes, a typical 2D code, are used in various applications as the number of users of smartphones increases. QR Codes are designed to be affixed on a flat surface and can resist a certain degree of distortion when captured. On the other hand, as the applications of QR Codes expand, there is a strong need for reading QR Codes to be attached to curved surfaces. However, QR Codes are not designed to resist distortion caused by curved surfaces, making it difficult to detect information depending on the situation. In this paper, we propose a method for reading QR Codes attached on curved surfaces by adding auxiliary lines consisting of a border and a marker to the QR Code to compensate for distortion by using these lines. The proposed method enables codes to be read even when a part of the finder pattern is missing. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method by the experiments to detect information from a QR Code attached to a cylinder.
