Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) As mobile communication networks become part of the social infrastructure with the advancement of 5G, congestion in the control plane of the 5G mobile core causes communication failures. However, conventional network slicing methods cannot control congestion that occurs during the first connection process before a slice ID is assigned. Also, software mobile cores have emerged in recent years, but methods for optimizing the use of finite computing resources have not yet matured. We have proposed "control plane slicing" as a new slicing method in the control plane and have shown the feasibility of (1) reducing congestion in the core and (2) prioritizing delay in the connection process for specific terminals. Furthermore, we have shown the possibility of improving the performance of (1) and (2) by using "CPU gradient allocation," which optimally allocates computing resources to software-enabled network functions. In this study, we confirm the compatibility of control plane slicing with current network slicing and investigate the optimal allocation method of CPU gradient allocation, and implement and evaluate them in a Local 5G environment using a software mobile core. The evaluation results show that the proposed method and the conventional method can be used together, and that the average number of connected terminals can be increased by a factor of 2.4 at maximum by prioritizing Network Function with particularly high CPU utilization.
