A Study on Operating Method of Relay Stations in Wireless Relay Transmission with RF-Energy Harvesting

Abstract(in English) This paper presents an evaluation of the characteristics of a wireless relay transmission system using a relay station with RF energy harvesting (RF-EH) functionality, based on the different operating methods of the relay station. Although the battery capacity of the wireless terminal is limited, there is a need to extend the life of the terminal. Therefore, attention is paid to RF-EH, which derives energy from the surrounding radio waves, and a relay transmission system is considered in which a relay station incorporating RF-EH is used. Two methods of relay station operation, the multi-hop method and the selective method, are considered, evaluated and compared in terms of outage probability, data throughput and system lifetime.
