A Study on Application of Mulit-DME Positioning to Aircraft Departure Routes

Abstract(in English) An alternate positioning method for aircraft using Multi-DME in case of GNSS signal loss is being developed and discussed in the international standardization organizations. It is necessary to clarify the issues, in order to discuss whether to introduce the multi-DME positioning method in Japan. This paper extracts issue to deploy the multi-DME positioning through a flight experiment and show applicability of Multi-DME positioning to a departure route of Sendai Airport for an example of middle size airports. Furthermore, this paper also discusses methods to solve this issue.
