Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Motor conversion disorder is when the repetitive inward and outward rotation of the hand becomes very awkward and time-consuming. The "hand gyration/rotation test" has been introduced as a rehabilitation method to check upper limb movement by repetitive forearm gyration/rotation. However, the following issues exist. First, it is difficult for patients to maintain concentration because the rehabilitation movements are monotonous. Second, it is difficult for patients to feel the effects of rehabilitation, making it challenging to maintain a high level of motivation and to continue the practice. In this study, we propose a rehabilitation system using the Leap Motion Controller (LMC) to solve the above problems. The proposed system is a 2D maze game in which the user manipulates the character's movements (straight ahead, stop, rotation) using the shape and movement of the fingers recognized by the LMC as commands and aims at the goal while collecting items placed in the maze. The game will be used to improve "immersion and continuity" by turning rehabilitation into a game and visualizing data for each subject, as well as to examine the possibility of using the game as a rehabilitation tool for other disorders related to hand dysfunction. |
