Characterization of Self-joule heating assisted field emission source

Abstract(in English) In general, field emission shows the emission current from several ten nA to μA, however, there is a need for a high-brightness electron source with minimal energy dispersion and a significant current to achieve greater brightness. Our field emission source was made by simple method than the Hata's field emission source. We succeeded in fabricating Taylor Cone, which is formed if a liquid metal film coats the surface of a tungsten field emission cathode and a strong electric field is applied. The influence of the liquid metal enables high current emissions of several mA. In this report, we describe the emission characteristics and the emission mechanism and future prospects by Self-joule heating assisted field emission source.
