[Invited Talk] A Novel Routing Problem to Reduce Significant Network Outage and Its Efficient Method

Abstract(in English) Optical communication networks are operated with great care to avoid outages, and several countries specify “significance standards” for network outages to prevent negative impact on society. Although the impact of possible outages strongly depends on routing methods for requested connections, there has been no existing work that directly deals with these standards. This paper for the first time introduces a routing problem to minimize the outage impact on society, given significance standard. We then propose a heuristic method to solve the problem efficiently, and show that it can be applied to the Tokyo metro network as an example to effectively suppress network outages.
