Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Although studies of video game experience and addiction have been conducted, only a few comprehensive studies has focused on monetary charging behavior. This study exploratively examined the relationship charging behaviors for computer games versus sharing experiences (competition and cooperation with family and friends), age, and gender. The results showed that, the higher the level of sharing experience was, the higher the average charging was. Three of the 33 indices (reason to pay: to acquire a specific character, reason to pay: because I like the design (illustrator) of the character I can acquire, and satisfaction with billing) showed a negative correlation with age, and one index (reason to pay: because I cannot play the game without paying) showed a positive correlation with age. Another index (reason to pay: because I cannot play the game without paying) showed a positive correlation with age. In addition, the male participants showed a significantly higher score than the female participants on the index "reason to pay: to have an advantage over others". Since there was no relationship between shared experience and age or gender, it is necessary to examine the background factors behind the results of age and gender differences in more detail.
