| 抄録(和) | 電子端末画面上では横書き文章を縦方向にスクロールして読むことが多いことから，その認知特性を明らかにすることは快適で有効な読書のために重要である．そこで，画面サイズと画面上で読み手が一度に読み進める幅の関係を明らかにするため，1回のスクロールの行数と文章停止中の縦方向の視線移動範囲を計測し，これらが1行の文字数（行長）に依存するかを調べた．その結果，スクロール行数は行長により異なっていたが，行長が2倍になっても1/2倍までは縮小しなかった．また，視線移動範囲は行長によらず一定であった．結果から，マニュアルスクロールの場合，視線移動範囲が個人により決まっており，それに合わせてスクロール行数が決まると考えられる． |
| 抄録(英) | We often read horizontal text by scrolling vertically on screens of digital devices. Therefore, it is important to clarify the cognitive characteristics of reading by scrolling for comfortable and effective reading. To clarify the relationship between screen size and the vertical span of reading, we measured the number of lines scrolled at one time and the vertical span of eye movements on the static text, and examined whether these variables depend on the number of characters in a line (line length). The results showed that the number of scrolled lines varied with line length, but did not shrink by a factor of 1/2 even when the line length doubled. The span of eye movements was constant regardless of the line length. The results suggest that in the case of manual scrolling, the vertical span of eye movement is determined by the individual, and the number of scrolling lines is determined accordingly. |
