[Poster Presentation] An Estimation Formula Line-of-Sight Probability in an Urban Environment

Abstract(in English) This paper presents the results of a study on a line-of-sight (LOS) probability estimation formulas for low base station height systems in urban environments. As an initial study, we propose an estimation formula (d1 adaptive model) that can be adapted to changes in street width and building length in an uniform grid pattern city. We have developed the basic formula of the d1 adaptive model based on the concept of the d1d2 model developed in the 5G standardization. Comparison of the LOS probability based on this basic formula with the simulation results shows a discrepancy in the short and medium distances range between base stations and mobile stations. The cause of the discrepancy is considered to be the effect of the base station location in the road width direction and the effect of the LOS spread in the intersection area. Therefore, we analytically obtained the LOS probability at the base station location in the road width direction and modified the model by adding an additional term to represent the LOS spread in the intersection area using an empirical formula. These modifications improve the estimation accuracy of the d1 adaptive model and enable estimation of LOS probability that can adapt to changes in the urban environment.
