Abstract(in English) This paper evaluated the performance of a low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication in an urban area. In urban area terminals, radio waves received from satellites are affected by scattering, reflection and diffraction from buildings. This effect can be estimated by using public 3D building data and radio propagation simulation based on ray tracing method. Attenuation due to rainfall and atmospheric conditions can also be estimated using an attenuation model. We combined this attenuation model and ray tracing results to evaluate the performance prediction of satellite communications.
