Abstract(in English) Optical fiber sensors that measure strain based on the assumption that the shape of the Brillouin gain spectrum (BGS) is represented by a Lorentz function have increasing measurement error for nonuniform strain that deforms the BGS shape. We have proposed a method to measure nonuniform strain with high accuracy using a set of BGS values (BGS pattern) within an analysis area with several measurement positions and observation frequencies. In this report, we describe a method to improve the judgment accuracy of the analytical area that is coarsely searched for use in this high-precision measurement. In the coarse search, a neural network (NN) is trained using many pairs of BGS patterns calculated from the nonuniform strain models and their conformities, and the BGS patterns in the observed BGS are input to the NN to judge the conformity of the area. Through simulations, the characteristics of misjudged strains were first examined. Then, by using the BGS patterns that took them into account in training the NN, the accuracy of conformity judgment of the analysis area was improved.
