Validation of Transmission Power Control in Hybrid FSO/RF Space-Air-Ground Integrated Networks

Abstract(in English) With the increasing demand for communication owing to the widespread adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, there is a growing need for satellite communication systems that can operate in high-frequency bands without being constrained by the scarcity of frequency resources. Consequently, research on free-space optical (FSO) communication, which primarily uses near-infrared wavelengths for wireless transmission, has gained significant momentum. In addition, the integration of FSO communication with the Space-Air-Ground Integrated Network (SAGIN), which uses High-Altitude Platform Stations (HAPS) as relay nodes, improves the communication quality between satellites and ground stations, providing faster and higher capacity satellite communication services than conventional Radio Frequency (RF) satellite communication systems. In this study, we focus on applying FSO communication to SAGIN and propose a transmit power control model for a satellite RF link to compensate for variations in the communication environment, including zenith angle changes and pointing errors. This model aims to compensate for the deterioration of FSO communication due to environmental changes and improve the energy efficiency of the communication system. Simulations are performed to validate the proposed model.
