[Invited Talk] Quantum-Annealing-Inspired Swarm-Intelligence-Like Simulated Annealing Algorithm

Abstract(in English) Quantum-inspired classical algorithms for combinatorial optimization have been attracting great attention recently. The path-integral quantum Monte Carlo (PIQMC) method is widely used as a classical interpretation of quantum annealing. We propose and demonstrate a simulated annealing algorithm inspired by the PIQMC method for Ising-model-based combinatorial optimization, where many replicas mutually interact with each other as if a swarm of replicas is formed to cooperatively search for the ground state. Their interactions are local, simple and fluctuate to a certain degree. Such fluctuations are necessary to escape local minima. We solve max-cut problems for algorithm evaluation. We use the Metropolis algorithm for performance comparison.
