Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Adiabatic quantum-flux-parametron (AQFP) logic relies on magnetic transformer for propagation and inversion, which presents a potential challenge for future scaling. Therefore, the investigation has been undertaken to realize a directly coupled quantum-flux-parametron (DQFP) logic that eliminates magnetic transformers for signal propagation. However, in previous studies, it was hard to mix buffers and inverters in the same logic gate from the perspective of driving ability and error rates, resulting in poor logic flexibility. In this study, we investigate an rf-SQUID with a Josephson junction shifted by π phase for inverter function (π-rf-SQUID). An inverter composed of the proposed rf-SQUID directly placed before a buffer has advantage of low power consumption from the conventional transformer-based approach while enabling easier scaling. In this presentation, we first describe the operating principles of AQFP. Then, we explain the design methodology of proposed rf-SQUID and the numerical simulation result about performance of an inverter using it. Finally, we describe the physical layout design of circuits using the AIST 10 kA cm-2 Nb high-speed standard process (HSTP).
