Abstract(in English) | We are developing a satellite broadcasting system with layered division multiplexing (LDM) scheme that multiplexes multiple modulation signals with different power levels as injection levels (IL), in the same channel with the aim of providing services flexibly in accordance with receiving conditions. LDM consists of an upper layer (UL) signal with high power and a lower layer (LL) signal with low power and enables a construction of advanced transmission system to be designed with different levels of robustness and bit rates in the same channel. We propose a decoding method to improve the transmission performance of LL signal against non-linear distortion occurring in a satellite transponder of satellite broadcasting system. Our proposed method enables an error-correction decoding considering non-linear distortion by using pilot signals with known symbol transitions, resulting in improving the transmission performance of LL signal in the satellite channel. Computer simulation results show that our proposed method achieves better performance for non-linear distortion than successive interference cancellation (SIC), which is generally used in LDM system. |
