Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To increase the channel capacity of wireless communications, a MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) technology is important, which enables transmission and reception at the same time and frequency using multiple transmitting and receiving antennas and can improve the channel capacity. To place a number of antenna elements in a limited space, it is necessary to arrange the antenna elements with narrow spacing. However, the narrower the space between antenna elements, the higher the spatial correlation becomes, thus the MIMO channel capacity degrades. In this report, we propose a dipole antenna array configuration with different element lengths to improve the channel capacity by reducing spatial correlations. To reduce the spatial correlations and improve the channel capacity, the optimal dipole antenna element lengths are derived with an objective function to maximize the average channel capacity. By numerical analysis, we obtain the optimal element lengths of the proposed antenna array configuration in the case of the number of transmit and receive antennas are four. Then, we clarify the effectiveness of the proposed antenna array configuration by comparing the channel capacity characteristics when the optimal element lengths are used with those of a conventional dipole antenna array configuration.
