Performance Evaluation of Inter-User Interference Cancellation for 5G-based Full-Duplex Cellular System

Abstract(in English) The introduction of in-band full-duplex (IBFD) into cellular systems (Full-Duplex Cellular: FDC) is expected to improve the spectral efficiency of the conventional 5th generation mobile communication (5G) system. There are two-types of problematic interferences: self-interference (SI) at the base station and inter-user interference (IUI) at the user equipment (UE). IUI is interference from the UE transmitting uplink signal (UL-UE) to that receiving downlink signal (DL-UE). Various IUI cancellation schemes have been proposed, but no IUI cancellation considers the signal configuration and channel coding adopted in 5G and coexistence with SI cancellation. In this report, we propose an IUI cancellation based on successive interference cancellation considering the signal format and digital signal processing of 5G. The proposed scheme improves the performance of IUI cancellation by the high accuracy of the IUI channel estimation and the IUI signal demodulation utilizing the demodulation reference signal configuration proposed in the 5G-based SI cancellation scheme. In addition, in the proposed scheme, each UE determines whether to utilize the IUI cancellation based on the received signal. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is evaluated by computer simulation.
