A Study on transmit power control for cell-free wireless network

Abstract(in English) Cell-free networks are attracting attention as a solution to the problem of poor communication quality at the cell-edge in conventional cellular networks, and cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems have been proposed as a form of its implementation. In cell-free massive MIMO, access points (APs) are densely distributed, and they are cooperatively operated as a distributed MIMO system to form an area without cell-edges. In uplink communication in cell-free massive MIMO, interference from other user equipments (UEs) is a factor that degrades communication quality. Therefore, transmit power control is required to improve performance. Conventional open-loop transmit power control already standardized in 3GPP assumes communication with a single base station. On the other hand, in cell-free massive MIMO, since each UE communicates with multiple APs simultaneously, using the existing open-loop transmit power control may increase interference. In this report, we propose an open-loop transmit power control scheme suitable for cell-free massive MIMO and evaluate it by computer simulation.
