Performance Evaluation of Advanced BLE Hybrid Algorithm for Positioning and Direction Finding

Abstract(in English) This paper evaluates advanced Bluetooth Low Energy(BLE) hybrid algorithm performance for positioning and direction finding using smartphones. First, we change information in BLE hybrid algorithm database from only position to position and direction. Next, we experiment in indoor corridor with BLE beacons installed for data collection. Using data collected in indoor corridor, we compare performance of the advanced BLE hybrid algorithm and the previous method of positioning and direction finding. Evaluation results show that the advanced BLE hybrid algorithm has better performance. Furthermore, we analyze the evaluation results using confusion matrixes. Analysis results show error trends in positioning and direction finding. In addition, we evaluate different intervals of BLE beacons installed. Evaluation results show that performance can be maintained even when the number of BLE beacons decreases. Consequently, we obtain the knowledge about the advanced BLE hybrid algorithm for positioning and direction finding.
