Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Intelligent Reflecting Surface (IRS), which enables control of propagation characteristics, has attracted attention as a technology that can significantly improve energy utilisation efficiency in sixth-generation mobile communication systems. We have proposed a wireless communication system using Standalone-IRS (SA-IRS), which solves two problems: the overhead of channel estimation for each reflective element of the IRS, and the sharing use of the IRS by multiple operators. In the proposed system, the SA-IRS switches the phase shift periodically and autonomously updates the phase shift switching schedule so that the beam is directed only in the direction where the user is present. Furthermore, the system also performs localization of the user by taking these processes into account. In this report, we present the results of an evaluation of the impact of the phase shift switching schedule update of SA-IRS on communication and localization under various conditions.
