An Effect on Initial Connection Time of SmartBAN Transceivers by RF Interference

Abstract(in English) Recently, body area network (BAN) has been extensively studied for realizing healthcare IoT systems. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standardized SmartBAN in 2022, which is suitable for healthcare IoT. SmartBAN aims four technical requirements. One of the requirements is the quick initial connection. Since SmartBAN uses the 2.4 GHz band, it is expected that SmartBAN devices cannot transmit and receive the data packets properly by the interference from other devices, so that the initial connection time increases. In this paper, we implemented the experimental system of SmartBAN using the evaluation boards and experimentally evaluated the initial connection time performance with Bluetooth devices as radio interference.
