A Basic Architecture Design of Direct Digital RF DBF Transceiver for Q/V-Band On-Board Unit

Abstract(in English) This paper describes a transceiver design of Q/V(40/50 GHz)-band DBF antenna for low earth orbit (LEO) constellation on-board equipment. Since the antenna element distance is around 5mm, compact antenna module size is required. The direct digital RF transceiver architecture is a solution of both software defined radio (SDR) functionality and compactness. For transmitter, 1-bit bandpass delta-sigma modulator in digital domain is employed and the 3rd order image component is extracted from 1-bit DAC as the RF transmit signal in 40GHz-band. For receiver, received RF signal in 50GHz-band is directly under-sampled and is converted into digital IF signal. These Antenna modules and DSP unit are connected by QSFP modules and optical fibers designed for 100 GbE.
