Implementation of the interworking function between MQTT and DDS for IoT DEP and its evaluation

Abstract(in English) IoT services are currently being introduced in various fields. The IoT Data Exchange Platform (IoT DEP) has been standardized in ISO/IEC JTC1/SC41 as a platform to accommodate a large number of IoT devices. Conventionally, Message Queueing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) distributed brokers has been discussed for the realization of IoT DEP. However, the transfer delay may increase due to an increase in the number of pops. Therefore, we propose the mechanisms in MQTT for the connection between the End Point (EP) and Nodal Point (NP) of IoT DEP, and in Data Distribution Service (DDS) for the connection between NPs. However, this requires an interworking function between MQTT and DDS within the NP. This paper implements and evaluates the MQTT-DDS interworking function with IoT DEP in mind.
