Abstract(in English) | A low-phase-noise oscillator with high spectral purity is a helpful tool for improving functionality and reliability in applications such as wireless communication and spectroscopy. There have been demands for compact, low-phase noise oscillators in the terahertz-wave domain, such as, for future wireless communication systems. However, achieving low phase noise in oscillators in the frequency range is challenging due to high operation frequencies and limited available electronic and optical devices. Microresonator frequency combs (microcombs), on-chip optical frequency combs with repetition frequencies in the terahertz frequency range, have garnered high anticipation as promising new compact, low-phase noise terahertz-wave oscillators. In this talk, we discuss several low-phase-noise terahertz-wave generation techniques using microcombs and a frequency-tunable terahertz wave oscillator referencing a microcomb as an elemental technology for applications. |
