[Invited Talk] Computing in pursuit of energy efficiency

Abstract(in English) From AlphaGo which defeated a professional human GO player up to automatic driving of cars and the very recent ChatGPT, the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology is astounding. In addition to advancement of machine learning algorithms such as deep learning, the contribution of high-performance hardware supported by remarkable advances in semiconductor technology is significant. On the other hand, computers are significantly inferior to the human brain in terms of energy efficiency, leaving room for research and development. In this talk, I will review computing technologies that improve energy efficiency, and focus on techniques to reduce the write energy consumption of non-volatile memory circuits that use MTJs.
