| Abstract(in English) | This paper introduces NEC's multimodal authentication terminal that simultaneously captures and authenticates a face and irises. This terminal is equipped with a visible light camera for facial recognition and an NIR camera for iris recognition, and the former captures and authenticates the face, and also controls the orientation of the latter to capture irises. In the iris image capturing, a distance between the camera and an iris is estimated to control focus and near-infrared illumination, and irises are captured in high resolution. After matching the face and the irises individually, the results are integrated to obtain the overall identification result. It is confirmed that this terminal can authenticate a person within 2 seconds, including device control. Examples of PoC using this terminal for entry/exit control and payment are also introduced. |
