Development of Passive Implantable Devices for Neuromodulation

Abstract(in English) Recently, neuromodulation therapy, which stimulates nerves electrically, is attracting much attention.However, conventional implantable neurostimulators are equipped with batteries, which have several clinical problems such as long-term use. In this paper, the characteristics of a developed implantable receiver that combines the principle of wireless power transmission using a magnetic field resonance coupling method were evaluated through experiments and simulations. The experimental results demonstrated that the developed implant receiver using the magnetic field resonance coupling method can induce appropriate neural stimulation, indicating the possibility of neuromodulation by passive implantable devices.
