Bit rate improvement by dual camera for standard image overlay screen camera communication based on PSK modulation

Abstract(in English) Standard image overlay uplink screen camera communication that transmits data while displaying the received image is investigated using LED backlight modulation of a small LCD (liquid crystal display) and a rolling shutter camera. In previous work, we showed that constant-luminance I-2PPM (inverted 2 pulse position modulation) is more resistant to overlay images than constant-luminance I-4PPM. However, in PPM, it is difficult to increase the data rate by M-ary modulation. In this study, to increase the data rate, we use constant-luminance M-ary PSK (phase shift keying). Since PSK is more sensitive to overlay images than PPM, received pixel values are adjusted by dual camera. Numerical analysis and experiments show improvement of PSK amplitude and phase variations by dual camera.
