Abstract(in English) | A high-altitude platform station (HAPS) is a promising technology which realizes the coverage extension in the 6G wireless systems. From the aspects of spectral efficiency, it is desirable that HAPS uses the same frequencies that terrestrial systems use. Assuming this spectrum sharing, interference reduction between HAPS and the terrestrial systems is essential; therefore, the scheme where HAPS forms a single null towards each ground base station (BS) has been considered. However, we cannot necessarily protect the whole area of the ground cell by the single null. The communication quality around the cell edge becomes low. In particular, this quality deterioration of the ground cells near HAPS would be significant. In this paper, we propose a scheme where HAPS changes the direction of the single null over the time or frequency domain, which we call null sweeping. In this scheme, HAPS cooperates with the terrestrial systems, and reduces the residual interference with numerous ground cell users. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves the received signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio and the sum capacity of the terrestrial systems even in the case that the ground BSs are located relatively close to HAPS. |
