AR-based Radio Propagation Visualization System to Assist Area Deployment of mmWave B5G

Abstract(in English) mmWave (millimeter wave) bands, which were firstly introduced in 5G, and higher frequency bands such as THz (terahertz) bands, are expected to be widely used in B5G (Beyond 5G) and 6G. However, these waves have high straightness and propagation loss, and are easily blocked by buildings and other obstacles. In other words, it is difficult to deploy them in a wide area. To address this issue, this study proposes a digital twin platform for wireless communication that assists the communication area deployment of mmWave bands in B5G/6G. In this paper, we first construct a virtual space based on mmWave simulations and then use AR (Augmented Reality) to visualize the measured/simulation data onsite. The visualization results were verified using mmWave base station in real field, and we demonstrated and confirmed the basic effectiveness of the proposed system.
