Flexible Light-Induced Self-Written Optical Waveguide Using Gel Material

Abstract(in English) For future autonomous driving, it is necessary to develop a high-speed in-vehicle network system. Normally in-vehicle connectors have air gaps at the connection point to avoid damage to the optical fibers end face due to vibrations. However, such gaps cause misalignment between optical fibers. To solve this problem, Light-Induced Self-Written (LISW) optical waveguide are studied. LISW optical waveguide is fabricated by immersing photocurable resin at the tip of an optical fiber and irradiating laser light. But conventional LISW optical waveguide becomes hard after curing. In this study, we fabricate LISW optical waveguide using gel material and conduct adhesive evaluation and loss.
